Turning 30 wasn't so bad...
On March 2nd, I turned 30.... and on that particular day I had the flu... It's a good thing that I have the most amazing husband in the world because he threw the best surprise party in the WORLD the weekend before my birthday.
Jason had planned a getaway weekend for us, and even had an all night babysitter (Laci Butler, isn't she the best!) for Audrey. Jason took me to Rockwall to spend the night in the new Hilton on the Harbor. (this is the part that I knew about...) When he got home from "shopping" (he had actually spent the day in Rockwall at the Hilton decorating a party room), he told me that I needed to change my clothes because we were going to have desert at a restaurant in the Hilton and I couldn't wear the jeans and t-shirt I had on. Glad his fashion sense is better than mine... So, I changed my clothes at the last minute, packed Audrey up to go to Laci's and headed out to Rockwall for our fun overnight.
When we checked in at the Hilton, we headed up to our room... but he stopped at the double doors next door to our room and opened the doors up. I was confused since this clearly was not our room, but I immediately saw in the darkened room - cameras flashing, streamers flying and heard people yelling "Surprise". Being pregnant and somewhat emotional.. and just being me... I totally cried. I was in such shock that I was shaking and was just completely overwhelmed with how many of my friends had come to party.
Jason themed the party "friends" and had Meagan Block (www.meaganblock.com) come to take professional pictures of the evening with themed "friends" (the show) pictures. I have never in my entire life felt so special and loved, and I will forever remember what a fun night that I had with all of my best friends. To all of you who took time out of your busy schedules, sick kiddos and jobs - THANK YOU for making me feel like the most important girl ever. For a minute, I was no longer pregnant and tired, but I was happy and thrilled to be hanging out with friends again. I really miss all of you ... even though you're just across the metroplex from me.
Thank you to Audrey for helping Jason decorate my party room and being such a good girl! And for keeping the "secret birthday surprise" from me all day long. I love you Jason, thanks for making me feel so special. I love you!!

I just want you to know I would have been there if I hadn't been out of town from Thursday to Saturday with my debate team. I'm so glad it was great. Love you!
Wow, I'm surprised your daughter kept that secret, she's a great girl. I'm glad you had fun at the party.
Boo. Next time you turn 30, I'll try to make sure my brother-in-law isn't getting married. Wish I could have been there!
I'm glad you had such a special birthday!! :)
That sounds wonderful! You are a very lucky girl! Happy Late Birthday Shannon! Heather Mollman
